Originally bred by farmers on the River Clyde in Scotland, Clydesdales became associated with Anheuer-Busch on April 7, 1933 to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition. A magnificent team of Clydesdales thundered down Pestalozzi Street in St. Louis carrying the first cases of post-Prohibition beer. Dalmatians have traveled with the hitch since the 1950s. In the early days of brewing, Dalmatians were trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make deliveries.
